how i made my very own dress!

As evident as it is, I love fashion. I love the way one can express themselves and allow the world an
insight of who they are through ones fashion choices. Fashion holds incredible power to shape who we are. That's why when i make my own clothes, I feel as if the possibilities to create anything and everything are infinite . Now, i'm no fashion designer but there are many advantages to making your own clothing. Lets take the grey dress in this photo as an example. One day I was scrolling through the J-Crew website in search of a striped top , when I came across a gorgeous dress. It had the most beautiful collar and the most stunning cut. The price was out of this world amazing, not to forget that there was a free shipping event that weekend. It felt like love at first sight.  So just when I was about to  touch the "add to cart button",  I made the unfortunate realization that the dress was from the J-Crew kids site. The sizes were far to miniscule for me and it suddenly dawned upon me why it was all to good to be true. Frustrated and conflicted, I took it upon myself and decided to create my own. 
 It took a week and five yards of fabric later till I had finally completed my dress. I used a photo of the original piece to help inspire me in my re creating, while also adding some personalized extra elements. Using my best sewing skills and sizing skills, I attempted to replicate the original dress cut as accurately as possible. I am still so incredibly happy with the result, and I honestly must say it looks better than the original :) This goes to show that there's always ways you can go about things. Don't let anything get in the way of your fashion dreams. So, get out there and try making your own fashion item, it doesn't have to be anything grandiose, and its definitely worth it!!!
